It’s been noted previously that the music of Sophie Allison, aka Soccer Mommy, could be described as being rooted in ‘ethereality,’ as well as of this Earth. The song that opens tonight's show, Abigail – an ode to a character in Stardew Valley – helps feeds into the outside-of-this-realm ideology from the get-go, while songs like circle the drain (notably Soccer Mommy's second most-streamed Spotify song) feature the addition of bubble sound effects for an underwater feel.

Album title: Horror Artist: Bartees Strange Label: 4AD Release date: 14 Feb Horror, the third full length from Bartees Strange, is a collection of songs that encapsulate what fear means and how it can be processed. Sonically, it's extremely varied, but not at all to its detriment.

Neck Deep, the five-piece from Wrexham, have cultivated a mass following, so the room is packed to the rafters and there’s clearly a lot of excitement in the air. As they released their self-titled album at the start of last year, the first five songs come from that offering. What could be jarring to a casual fan is still well received, perhaps helped by onstage theatrics in the form of a blast of white confetti during opener Dumbstruck Dumbfuck, as well as a flash of pyrotechnics.

One of the most notable things about Jenn Tapner, curator of the Glasgow Songwriter Round series, is that she always brings fairy lights. While there are some above the performers, a point is made to wrap them around the staging and mic stands too, adding her own glimmer, while lighting up the performers.

“Let’s go, Lesbians!” goes the rebel yell that rings out from a portion of the crowd as Pale Waves take to the stage. Following a very queer-coded pre-stage playlist, featuring the likes of Chappell Roan, Madonna and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the energy is palpable in the sold out Galvanizers room at SWG3. The simple but elegant setup sees two chandeliers adorned against a large red draped curtain.

There’s no frills at this party with its self-described “witch rock” act at the helm. Saying this, there is something a bit bewitching about Ella O’Connor Williams, who performs under the moniker of Squirrel Flower, but it’s hard to put a finger on it. When she takes to the mic, she seems to have everyone in the room under her spell. She opens with the melancholic Full Time Job, rendering the crowd silent and engrossed.

When there’s a curtain on stage at a show, you know something special is about to be unveiled. As Troye Sivan takes to the stage after the curtain drops behind his six dancers and he launches into his hit Got Me Started, the atmosphere is something close to electric. The high-intensity beat of the song and the general energy of the performers (and the up-for-it audience) get the show off to a stupendous start.

Given that tonight’s show is to commemorate the decade that has passed since Fatherson’s debut album I Am An Island was released, it feels like a disservice to simply say that tonight is special. Not only for the band, but evidently for the sold out crowd that cling onto every word that singer Ross Leighton belts. When he takes to the stage alone to start the show, the room roars.

While in the sanctity of (formerly) hallowed ground, tonight’s support act Ethan P. Flynn dons sunglasses on stage, which, while it is still technically summer, feels a bit out of place. He’s from Yorkshire and London-based, yet his voice, demeanour and songs are more akin to American troubadours like Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock. He tells the crowd that if we like him, we can catch him in Glasgow later in the year with a six-piece band, but he does not know where or when.

Album title: Learning How to Live and Let Go Artist: The XCERTS Label: UNFD Release date: 18 Aug The fifth album by The XCERTS, Learning How to Live and Let Go, opens with prior-released single GIMME, which could be considered bold. There is a lot sonically jam-packed into it – it’s brash and in your face. The upbeat chaos travels throughout the first couple of tracks, and a feature from Architects' Sam Carter is a welcome and fun addition to the song Ache.
