It’s been noted previously that the music of Sophie Allison, aka Soccer Mommy, could be described as being rooted in ‘ethereality,’ as well as of this Earth. The song that opens tonight's show, Abigail – an ode to a character in Stardew Valley – helps feeds into the outside-of-this-realm ideology from the get-go, while songs like circle the drain (notably Soccer Mommy's second most-streamed Spotify song) feature the addition of bubble sound effects for an underwater feel.

Neck Deep, the five-piece from Wrexham, have cultivated a mass following, so the room is packed to the rafters and there’s clearly a lot of excitement in the air. As they released their self-titled album at the start of last year, the first five songs come from that offering. What could be jarring to a casual fan is still well received, perhaps helped by onstage theatrics in the form of a blast of white confetti during opener Dumbstruck Dumbfuck, as well as a flash of pyrotechnics.

One of the most notable things about Jenn Tapner, curator of the Glasgow Songwriter Round series, is that she always brings fairy lights. While there are some above the performers, a point is made to wrap them around the staging and mic stands too, adding her own glimmer, while lighting up the performers.

“Let’s go, Lesbians!” goes the rebel yell that rings out from a portion of the crowd as Pale Waves take to the stage. Following a very queer-coded pre-stage playlist, featuring the likes of Chappell Roan, Madonna and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the energy is palpable in the sold out Galvanizers room at SWG3. The simple but elegant setup sees two chandeliers adorned against a large red draped curtain.
