Rangers new American owners have been given the go ahead to invest £20m into the club, with new chairman Andrew Cavanagh insisting that they are at Ibrox “for the long haul”. A cash injection pledged by Cavenagh and his consortium, which includes the investment arm of NFL club the San Francisco 49ers, will be allowed to come into the Scottish Premiership club.

Celtic have paid tribute to Lisbon Lion John Clark who has passed away at the age of 84. Clark made over 300 appearances for Celtic with his finest hour coming in Lisbon in May, 1967 with the club’s greatest ever triumph. He won a six league titles, five League Cups, three Scottish Cups and one European Cup. Clark also served in the dug-out when he linked up with Billy McNeill, becoming his assistant manager at Aberdeen and then at Celtic.

Kathleen McGovern had barely got off the plane than the trainers were on and her feet were hitting the pavements. The Hibs striker does not like to stand still for long. McGovern took a break in the sun but had itchy feet. She has always been in a hurry. With 31 goals last season as well as a SWPL Championship medal after helping Hibs to the title, McGovern rounded off the season with a couple of Scotland caps – and an international goal. She is already hankering for the start of the season.
