We're deeply saddened that Dr Prateek Joshi, consultant radiologist at Royal Derby Hospital, and his family were on board the Air India flight which tragically crashed yesterday. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues, and all those impacted by this tragedy.

Lot of talk about the need for amb services to take fewer people to A&E. But the % taken to A&E has fallen from 59.1% in 2018-19 to 49.9% last year - that's already a massive shift.

Another good month for ambulance services in May - under 30m for category 2 responses for the 3rd month running at 27m 54s. Cat 1 wasn't so great - 7m 51s, slightly worse than April - but just maybe this year the 30m cat 2 gov target will be hit. 10 months to go....

I've read a lot of board papers recently where a high proportion of this year's cost improvmeent plan is yet to be identified. It's mid-June: that will leave 9 months to deliver savings. Boards need to get on top of this earlier in the year.

Today programme on R4 has just said NHS productivity fell last year by 2.3 per cent. Anyone know the source of that figure?

I'm alwasy surprised London MPs don't get more exercised over this - it's due to funding constraints but means their constituents will wait longer for an ambulance.
