After making it to the No. 3 spot last year, the Tennessee Aquarium is targeting a first-place ranking in USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Awards contest to identify the nation’s best aquarium. The Aquarium is one of 20 aquaria across the U.S. nominated in this year’s USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Aquarium. The nominees were determined by a panel of subject experts and editors, but public votes will determine each institution’s ranking.

After winning the contest outright in 2024, the Tennessee Aquarium has been nominated once again as one of the nation’s finest aquaria in the annual Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards. The contest features a broad range of categories to determine the best of the best in American attractions, goods and services. Winners are determined based on popular vote. The Tennessee Aquarium is one of 15 nominees chosen by a panel of travel experts for contention in the Best Aquarium category.

Like Rudolph’s nose, the Tennessee Aquarium’s iconic peaks are glowing and shining brightly with brand new LED lights, just in time to spread the holiday spirit this year. Since mid-October, the Aquarium’s peaks have been dark as skilled workers removed the old peak lighting system and installed a new, more reliable set of lights on the two tallest peaks of the River Journey building, which extend 143 feet into the sky.
