Elevated. That’s the word everyone used all weekend to describe the Formula One Louis Vuitton Australia Grand Prix 2025. There’s nothing like a blue chip brand such as LVMH to make people feel good. This was the first race of the season within the official partnership between Louis Vuitton and Formula One and it was great.

Perhaps it was the yellow silk moiré set within the Place d’Iena but Miu Miu AW25 oozed regal. This collection was for the intellectual princesses of Paris, here she was with her friend possibly Princess Margaret, ever-so stylish, finished with fake fur, glittering jewels, bracelets, necklaces and crystal trimmed socks too, and glamorous stoles and tiny capes. She was a little awry, dresses collapsed, fallen shoulder straps, but she knows what she wants, she can pull it off.

Here we were in the secret Etoile du Nord station, the location under wraps, like platform 9 ¾, waiting to board the Louis Vuitton express - metaphorically. It was a grand adventure and gave us the very best of Nicolas Ghesquiere up close and most fabulously. This was a collection with purposefulness. The models became ‘people’, going places, rushing glamorously and filling the concourse, and then the upper levels of this historic building.

We’re calling it the daily dystopia, 9-5 24/7. This Balenciaga collection came out hard and fast delivered at ground level in a maze of blackness. Disorientating like any good maze but Demna never loses his way. He knows what we want standard issue including: a great ‘business’ suit, a strong coat (double breasted cashmere)and a dress all of which he delivered. The athletic swim dresses were part of the Balenciaga Puma sportswear collab and just perfect for the daily swimmer. Tick.

“She takes a stride. Determined. She moves forward, never looks back. She has everything she needs”It was International women’s day and this was all about the Hermès boss Lady. Dressed in quilted leather shorts, ankle grazing coats and layers of goodness including cashmere turtlenecks, she was determined. This was a top notch no nonsense wardrobe - get the job done dust off the gloves, feet on the desk, blow the smoke from the barrel.

Mr Armani is still working his magic backstage making sure each model is perfectly dressed, tiny tweaks made minutes before the final touches. A belt added, a soft cap adjusted. Details, details. It has ever been so and even though he is 90 years of age, the show goes on. For Mr Armani this season has been one of richness and decoration, a collection of ballet shoes launched with 10 Corso Como, always an architect playing with surface and textures, feelings, emotions, space.

The art of craft - that was the focus of a Tods collection with a strong lineup of soft coats and many delicious layers of double faced cashmere, fuzzy alpaca, shearling and ultra-soft suede. Shown in the modernist Contemporary Art Pavilion in the heart of Milan, with its linear 1950s architecture, this was the perfect environment for Tod’s thoughtful language of fashion. And what’s not to love about a seamless wardrobe for women who appreciate beautiful things.

To the far-flung corners of Milan, we travelled to see Alberto Caliri’s debut collection as creative director at Missoni. This is Caliri's second time around having been creative director previously from 2021 to 2022, working alongside Angela Missoni for 15 years. He is no stranger to the house codes. For AW25, he delivered a youthful collection with all the needs of the Missoni woman: a light sprit and the promise of glamour.
