This year’s NFL draft is on target to achieve a first. Barring a last-minute trade, every team will go into the draft with its original first-round pick for the first time in the common draft era that began in 1967. That’s in stark contrast to recent years when teams were much more willing to trade away or swap first-round picks, with an average of more than seven teams entering the last five drafts without their original first-round picks.

Firth highlighted the Nuclear Conference honors with senior Michael Adams earning Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year, while Scott Adams was tabbed Coach of the Year after leading the Cougars to a third-place finish at the 3A state tournament. Firth sophomore Quinton Hall was named Sixth Man of the Year.

Madison, Soda Springs, Firth, Grace, Watersprings and Rockland all won trophies on Saturday. Here’s a recap of state tournament action. MADISON The Bobcats finished strong in the fourth quarter to defeat Borah 40-38 in the consolation final. Borah led early as Madison had just 13 points at the half, but the Bobcats rallied and outscored the Lions 13-5 in the fourth. Nash Humpherys scored 20 points for Madison, which finished the season 23-3.
