(WJAR) — Negotiations are underway to pay Tiverton Firefighters more and address staffing shortages. Under an agreement with the town and union, firefighters will get a raise on top of the one they were already entitled to in their current contract. It’s a 10% pay bump on top of the current 2.75% increase they're already getting. It will be retroactive to the start of this month. In a Facebook post, the union says this is a step toward getting the Fire department where it needs to be.

Massachusetts state leaders are celebrating securing $1.72 billion in federal funding to help replace Cape Cod bridges. Even though this is a big milestone, there's still a long way to go to fully fund the project. The full cost of replacing the bridges is estimated at around $4.5 billion. The Sagamore bridge has more traffic than the Bourne and accounts for 56% of crashes on the bridges. The new bridge will have wider lanes, rapid bus transit and a shared path for bikers and pedestrians.
