I read Mr. Donegan's column, "Democratic postmortem" (Jan. 16), with some interest. Sure, there was the expected snarky gloat regarding the decisive win of Trump over Harris, and yet he did have some good points. In the third quarter, Tesla sold 16,692 Cybertrucks in the U.S., giving it almost 50% market share of EV trucks. Its competition includes the Chevy Silverado, GMC’s Hummer and Denali, Rivian Automotive R1T, and Ford F-150 Lightning.

Tesla isn’t the only car maker hosting an important event for Wall Street this week. A couple of days before Elon Musk takes the stage at Thursday’s highly anticipated Robotaxi Day, General Motors hosted an event for analysts and investors on Tuesday afternoon. Everything from electric vehicles to self-driving cars to the state of the car business was on the agenda. Investors, for the most part, appeared pleased with what the company had to say.
