The latest data book for child well-being has been released, and Wyoming has fallen back down in the rankings. The Kids Count Data Book is produced by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, which works to improve outcomes for children through grants, research and advocacy. The annual publication reports on major issues impacting children, especially those that affect or lead to changes in poverty levels. However, the rankings are relative to how other states are doing.

CASPER, Wyo. — Deep sea fishing might seem like an odd hobby for a girl from a land-locked state, but that’s exactly what Ella Moedl loves. Moedl is just one of many college rodeo athletes with an interesting hobby who competed at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper this year. Although Moedl has been fishing for most of her life, it wasn’t until her freshman year in high school that she got to experience fishing off-shore in the Gulf of Mexico.

Cancer, HIV and maternal health services are going to be affected because of four programs canceling their contracts with the Casper-Natrona County Health Department. The programs are facing funding cuts, including on the state and federal level, which has led to the contract terminations. Contracts with Wyoming Cancer Resource Services and the Wyoming Cancer Coalition were also recently terminated.
