I am a millennial through and through, and as a fashion-obsessed millennial, one of my enduring style references has always been Kate Moss. I loved the simplicity of her ’90s looks, but more than that, I was always really intrigued by the undone edginess in her look—the messy hair, the vintage ’70s touches, and of course… her affinity for leather.

As someone who spends her days chatting with women about their wardrobes and wardrobe aspirations, I am lucky enough to have an insider’s look at what people are feeling and craving for a new season. It is usually pretty easy for me to sense the shopping trends and patterns based on these hour-long conversations—of which I have about 20 a week.

With a statement piece (whether it's a fun print or a bright color), our instinct is to wear a super simple or quiet look and then add the statement piece. Specifically, we often go with an all-black outfit as a canvas, and then try to add a fun color, print, or texture as a pop.

I’ve said many times that a “capsule” wardrobe is a myth… The idea that there are prescribed pieces that work in every single wardrobe just isn’t realistic. Some of us swear by a pair of denim (me!), while others don’t own a single pair of jeans. It’s all about personal preference and the items you identify as the workhorses or “regulars” in your wardrobe. So, if I can’t tell you what the “must-have” pieces are to create a functional wardrobe, how are we meant to figure it out?

A handbag is one of the most coveted and splurged-on items in my clients’ wardrobes, but I find that while many of them love the acquisition process, they don’t necessarily use them to their full potential once they own them. I would even go as far as to say that many of us are more "handbag collectors” than anything! We are swooning over the bags, buying the bags, and then we will wear them for a period until we are on to our next obsession.

I had four sessions in a row where we were styling for graduation weekend, so I figured this was a relevant question. One of the things I really like to do for my dear paid subscribers is answer all of your questions! I know $80/year is not nothing, and I feel like this is a way to provide something of genuine value to you. But some questions are tougher than others!I do end up answering all of them. But some I seem to noodle forever. This was one of those. Simply asked, simple on it’s surface but WOAH - where do I start?

One of the questions I get asked the most is how to find inspiration. And not only that, but how to find unique inspiration that doesn’t feel algorithmic. I have done a few videos on this and usually reference this one:But, in this newsletter, I wanted to expand on finding inspiration even further. This will be helpful for everyone, no matter what level you are at. If you already have inspiration, I am going to show you how to use it successfully.
