If we had to go back to the first Trump administration for examples of him throwing loyalists under the bus, we might be able to write off the naivete of those who continue to think capitulation is a good idea as short-term amnesia. But the fact that there are ample instances in just the past four months makes me question the ongoing insistence that prostrating yourself or your company before the orange throne will somehow soften the blow.

I love to see rulings like this. The judge does an excellent job at summing up what just happened, so rather than try to re-state it, I’ll just share some of his eloquent and blistering order on the governments motion to reconsider his recent order. Defendants (members of the Trump administration) have mischaracterized this Court’s order, while at the same time manufacturing the very chaos they decry.

I looked up the language in the Billionaire Bailout Bill that addresses contempt citations. It says:SEC. 70302. RESTRICTION OF FUNDS. No court of the United States may use appropriated funds to enforce a contempt citation for failure to comply with an injunction or temporary restraining order if no security was given when the injunction or order was issued pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 65(c), whether issued prior to, on, or subsequent to the date of enactment of this section.

They allege she aided an immigrant in avoiding ICE agents by allowing Eduardo Florez-Ruiz to exit through the jury room instead of the main door. They arrested and arraigned her on a criminal complaint, and obtained a grand jury indictment after the fact.

Today, the extremely conservative 11th Circuit issued a 127-page opinion stating that Florida’s ban on allowing children to see drag performances is a violation of the First Amendment. Granted, the three-judge panel that issued the opinion includes two Obama appointees and one from Gerald Ford, and the opinion was 2-1.

If there’s one thing the Trump regime is good at besides crime, it’s delaying court proceedings that they’re likely to lose. Last week, the government filed a motion in the Abrego Garcia case under seal. News reports, other court filings, and statements from Abrego Garcia’s lawyers indicate that the sealed filing asked Judge Xinis for a week-long pause of discovery to give the regime time to facilitate the release of Abrego Garcia.
