An upcoming community resource fair in Knoxville is teaching financial literacy and how the road to a healthy credit score can change lives. “It opens so many more doors when you hit that sweet spot. 680, 700 is good, but 720 seems to be the number that opens everything else,” said Laura Contreras-Alanis, a Homeownership Center Manager at HomeSource East Tennessee.

We talked with the owner of a local swim school who is on a mission to make a drowning-free Knoxville. All Knox Swim is changing water safety culture through swim lessons and education. “We are a local swim school trying to make a big impact locally. We really believe that reducing statistics locally will change statistics nationally,” said Thomas Cochran, the owner of All Knox Swim.

Zehila Lopez Juarez is a proud recipient of the 2024 Golden Eagle Scholarship and is on her way to being a first-generation college student. “My family cannot afford a lot of money to help me pay for college, so this scholarship is offering me this opportunity to actually think of going to college,” said Zehila Lopez Juarez.
