More than one thousand families in Sydney have been sent a chilling letter about a man who worked with children being charged with criminal offences. The man, who worked with children in Sydney’s northern suburbs and the CBD, was charged by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in October last year in relation to alleged criminal activity that allegedly involved a “very small number of children”. The AFP said the man remains in custody and poses no threat to children.

Shoppers have been forced to evacuate from a Melbourne shopping centre less than a day after an allegedly stolen car ploughed through the complex. Emergency crews were again called to Northland Shopping Centre at about 10.30am on Thursday, following reports of a fire and smoke billowing from Myer. “Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find an electrical light producing smoke,” a Fire Rescue Victoria spokesman told NewsWire.
