Local cadets joined the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and veterans from the King's Own Scottish Borderers on a parade through the town, where a Drumhead Service of Remembrance took place in its historic Square.

Police, fire and ambulance crews raced to the incident after the alarm was raised shortly after 2pm today (Friday). It happened close to the A7 car wash on the road which links the Borders with Edinburgh. Motorists are being urged to avoid the area. More to follow...

Three other people are also being treated in hospital following the crash, which happened between Cockburnspath and Grantshouse shortly after 8pm last night (Thursday). Emergency services raced to the scene, near Penmanshiel, after the alarm was raised.

Church bells will ring out in Berwick at 6.30pm this evening (Thursday), before a special beacon is lit - at Windmill Bastion - on the town's Walls at 9.30pm.
