THE Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) says the recent suspension of lecturers by the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) sets the wrong precedent and undermines dialogue processes with workers. The University of Zimbabwe suspended leaders of its teaching union after they voted to go on strike over poor pay and working conditions. The institution accused the union leaders of insubordination for having the vote in a university hall that was allegedly meant to be used as a lecture venue.

By Alois VingaAIM-listed Caledonia Mining Corporation (CMC) has recorded a significant increase in gold output during the first quarter of the year 2025. A quarterly gold production report shows that output reached 18,671 ounces, exceeding 17,050 ounces produced in the first quarter of 2024 (“Q1 2024”). The new first quarter production record surpassed the previous high of 18,515 ounces set in the first quarter of 2022.

THE National Employment Council for the Commercial Sectors (NECCS) has warned members of the public to be wary of bogus officials on the prowl seeking to dupe victims by peddling lies that the organisation is no longer functional. In a statement, the NECCS alleged that two individuals, and one unnamed person, have been causing chaos in the sector by peddling misinformation.
