Baramulla, Jan 14: Commuters across north Kashmir have expressed concerns over the unprofessional manner in which check posts are operated across north Kashmir. In north Kashmir’s three districts, Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora, there are scores of check posts setup by the municipal councils and committees.

Baramulla, Jan 12: A street vendor was found dead in Sabzi market Baramulla on Sunday evening. The deceased is believed to have committed suicide by hanging himself. However? police has started investigation to ascertain whether it is a case of suicide or murder. The deceased has been identified as Toufeeq Ahmad Bala, son of Farooq Ahmad, a resident of Gulnar Park Baramulla.

Pattan, Jan 11: Baramulla Police have arrested three terrorists, involved in the grenade attack at 163 Territorial Army premises located in Hamray, Pattan on January 7. The arrests, as per police,  took place within 24 hours of the grenade throwing incident. Police also recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from their possession including one hand grenade, one AK-series rifle, one pistol, 256 live AK rounds, and 21 live pistol rounds.

Baramulla, Jan 10: The residents of Babagail Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have expressed anguish over the authorities’ failure to clear snow from the road. The aggrieved residents said the road stretch from Budrali to Babagail still remains  snow-covered and is yet to be restored for traffic movement, causing severe hardships for locals.

Baramulla, Jan 10: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) has emerged as a growing health concern across Baramulla district, with an alarming number of cases reported over the past few years. In 2024 alone, over 320 CKD patients were admitted across five designated dialysis centres in the district, showing the growing number of such cases.. The Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, which houses an eight-bed dialysis centre, has witnessed 407 CKD admissions since its establishment in June 2018.
