Introduction The longhorned tick, Haemaphysalis longicornis Neumann, is an invasive tick species (Acari: Ixodidae) native to eastern Asia that is present in Australasia and in parts of eastern and central United States and with the potential to spread throughout most of the eastern United States and along the Pacific Coast (Hoogstraal et al., 1968; Raghavan et al., 2019; Rochlin et al., 2023).

1. IntroductionTick-borne diseases continue to be a public health concern in the USA as the number of cases has increased in recent years [1,2]. The ongoing expansion of Ixodes scapularis Say and the increase in abundance of Amblyomma americanum (L.) throughout the Northeast and upper Midwest, as well as the recent detection of the invasive tick, Haemaphysalis longicornis Neumann, underscores the risk of tick-borne diseases in the northeastern USA [1,3,4].
