A father took his own life after he was "broken" by the death of his infant son, an inquest has heard. Stuart Nineham was found dead in Mansel Park, Southampton, Hampshire, in April 2024, more than three months after the death of 13-day-old Roman on January 6. The Portsmouth inquest heard that the youngster was born prematurely on December 24 2023, but was released from hospital on New Year's Eve.

A prolific mobile phone thief who was caught with a blind woman's stolen device during a morning crime spree has been jailed. Oliver Brady, 27, of Edmonton, North London, was sentenced to two years and three months at the Old Bailey on Friday after admitting to a string of offences committed on February 6. He pleaded guilty to two counts of theft, seven counts of handling stolen goods, driving without a licence or insurance, and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

A teenager who stabbed a 15-year-old boy to death in a North London park has been sentenced to life with a minimum term of 15 years. The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was convicted earlier this month of the murder of Deshaun James-Tuitt, who died after being attacked in Highbury Fields, Islington, North London, on August 4 2022. The defendant, who was 15 at the time, was found guilty following a trial at the Old Bailey in February.
