    War movies aren't my thing. Most feel like different flavors of the same played-out, pro-military propaganda, where the human toll takes a backseat to the fighting (re-created with the full Hollywood treatment, naturally) and what uplifting narratives can be spun out of the bones of an awful chapter of human history. That's why I was surprised when Netflix's "Turning Point" series quickly became one of my favorites on the streamer.

    Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos made headlines recently when he called the movie theater model as we know it an "outdated" concept. "Knives Out" director Rian Johnson disagrees, firing back that theatrical releases aren't going anywhere and, in fact, he wants Netflix to put his third "Knives Out" film in "as many theaters for as long as possible."He said as much in a recent Business Insider interview to promote the second season of his whodunnit series "Poker Face," which debuts on Peacock this week.

    Step aside, "Slow Horses" — there's a new purgatory for law enforcement misfits in town. Netflix just released the first trailer for "Dept. Q," its latest crime thriller mystery series aimed at connecting with true crime lovers. The show has some serious pedigree behind it, too, with "Queen's Gambit" and "Godless" writer Scott Frank at the helm. All nine episodes of "Dept Q." will drop on May 29, and based on the trailer, it looks like the streamer's next must-watch.
