A traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Dinah Shore and Plumley in Cathedral City today. During the incident, a power pole was hit, affecting a number of SCE customers in the area. According to the City of Cathedral City, the intersection of Dinah Shore and Plumley is closed off in both directions. Southern California Edison is on site. At 6:16 P.M., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a loud sound and power outage in the area of Country Club Drive and Monterey Ave. in Palm Desert. Southern California Edison determined that the loud sound and power outage were due to an underground electrical issue. Around 6:30 P.M., deputies assisted with traffic control, closing down a stretch of Country Club Dr. At 7:11 P.M., deputies began to open the road back up.

By Alyson Booth Caltrans has announced that there will be full lane closures tomorrow on State Route 62. Crews will be making emergency repairs to the Mission Creek Bridge. On Thursday, August 1, SR-62 will be closed from Indian Canyon Dr. to Pierson Blvd.. Westbound lanes will be closed from approximately 9:00 A.M. to 9:30 P.M. Eastbound lanes will be closed from 10 A.M. to approximately 10:30 A.M.

A person was killed in a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian Tuesday night in Coachella. The incident took place around 10:40 P.M. off of Grapefruit Blvd. and Cesar Chavez St. The man was identified as Robert Villa, 37, of Coachella. Authorities said after the crash, the driver remained at the scene and called 911. Westbound lanes were closed from Gateway Center to Avenue 49 as Riverside County Sheriff's Deputies conducted an investigation. They have since been re-opened.

By Alyson Booth A fire was reported at 6:19 P.M. tonight on the 1200 block of S. Gene Autry Trail in Palm Springs. Upon arrivals, Palm Springs firefighters located a car in a service bay that had caught fire inside of Exotic Car Service, Palm Springs. According to the Palm Springs Fire Chief, units quickly extinguished the flames and there is no damage to the building.
