Dickens of a Christmas in downtown Franklin is a classic and includes so much bang for your buck. It’s free and the kids can meet and see all kinds of characters. In Murfreesboro, Patterson Park is hosting a special holiday celebration. While there, you might check out Photos with the Grinch as well. Kidsville has special events throughout the month.

If you’re like me, you might end up spending some cash at the Holiday Kids Party at Plaza Mariachi. All of the events are free, but the food is worth spending a few dollars on. You can check on a storytime at Parnassus Books with a fun illustrator-read storytime. At Lipscomb, they’re bringing Amy Grant out for the annual holiday extravaganza.

Just in time for all those birds in the days of Christmas, this week kicks off with a family-friendly birding event at Big East Fork in Franklin. There are several chances to check on lights this winter, but some might say the event at Cheekwood is one of the best of the holiday season. This week there’s a chance for discounted tickets if you can hang late with the family.
