(WPDE) — You're invited to Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA locations along the Grand Strand. The nationally recognized event happens at Ys across the country and promotes a healthy spirit, mind, and body for kids. Families will be able to participate in obstacle courses and activities, as well as learn about healthy eating and water safety. The event is aimed at inspiring kids and families to stay active throughout the summer.

Hundreds of kites will fill the sky in Surfside Beach. The Inaugural Surfside Beach Kite Festival is next weekend. The Kite flying action will take place next to the Surfside Beach Pier. You can come to watch or bring a Kite to fly. Klig's Kites will also have kites available to use or purchase. Experts will be there for demos and lessons. The festival will also include live entertainment, food trucks, bounce houses, vendors and more.
