The crazy thing about reaching a goal is that then you need to set another one. For most of us, life is more about the journey to reach these goals than it is about actually achieving them. Sure, it’s okay to take a little time to revel in what you’ve accomplished, but then get back on the search for your next mountain, big or small. Recently, I reached two of my goals for 2025, which means I peaked early this year! I completed my first half-marathon outside of United States.

I heard a great quote recently from one of my upcoming guests, Sarain Aqrawi, who helps women entrepreneurs find their paths and excel. She said figure out what you have a “black belt in” and focus on that. It’s very simple, straightforward advice, but I believe there’s a lot of merit to it. In other words, it’s okay to change paths and say: this isn’t going to be the thing. Sometimes, you need to try things on for size and then, pivot to another path that is better suited for you.

The annual Kay Yow Cancer Fund Celebration Run/Walk is a love letter to the legendary NC State women’s basketball coach who died of breast cancer in 2009. Before her death, Yow set up the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to support research for all cancers affecting women.

Even if you’re not a sports fan, it’s impossible not to know her name - Kay Yow. Coach Yow led the NC State Wolfpack women’s basketball team for 34 years until her death from breast cancer in 2009. She had over 700 career wins, including an Olympic gold medal when she coached the U.S. women’s basketball team to victory in 1988. She was one of only six Division 1 basketball coaches to boast this number of wins.
