    Junior Andrew Williams is a multi-sport athlete at Fremont High School. This past football season, he was named to the Division III All-City First Team for his efforts as a defensive lineman. However, Williams contributes to all three phases. “I played running back, fullback, tight end, [defensive end], wide receiver, and I played on kick return,” he said after the 36-16 win Fremont had against Manual Arts in the Division III City Section playoffs.

    Scoring accuracy and physicality helped the Minnesota Timberwolves defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 117-95 in game one of the NBA Playoffs first round. Guard Luka Doncic led all scorers with 37 points and led the Lakers with eight rebounds. Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels led with 25 points and nine rebounds. The Lakers came out strong, scoring seven three-point shots and 11 second-chance points in the first quarter.

    Former L.A. businessman Harry A. Gethers passed away on March 21 at the age of 100. For more than 40 years, he operated Gethers Enterprises, an interior decorating business with customers throughout the Southland. A native of Bonneau, South Carolina, Mr. Gethers was born on October 31, 1924, to the Rev. Octavius and Mrs. Elouise Gethers. He was educated at Avery Normal Institute in Charleston and Allen University in Columbia. Next, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.

    Ilm Foundation hosted its 25th annual Humanitarian Day (HDAY) on March 16, an annual event dedicated to serving the underserved. Held at Gladys Park on Skid Row, sponsors, vendors and volunteers gathered to provide essential items, as well as eye, dental and health screenings, to those in need. Humanitarian Day was founded on the Islamic principle of service – helping others with dignity and compassion.
