IntroductionThe Atlantic meridional overturning circulation (AMOC) plays an important role in regulating the global climate by redistributing heat and salinity through the global ocean. The effects of anthropogenic climate change on the AMOC provide reasons for concern as the AMOC is a tipping element in the climate system (Armstrong McKay et al. 2022).
