A family at Akedei community in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has sued the Nigerian Army and the State Security Service (SSS) for the disappearance of a suspect from detention. The family said soldiers arrested Conference Wellyou, a farmer, alongside others two years ago over alleged membership of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Nigerian pastor Francis Irabor and his ex-wife, Auguste Irabor, are embroiled in a legal battle over their family assets in the United Kingdom following their bitter separation. The extensive legal battle also involves the church Mr Irabor co-founded in Abuja, the Great Calling Ministries Worldwide, before the family’s relocation to the UK in 2014. The church gave him loans to facilitate the relocation and to acquire two houses in the UK.

The wife of a top Binance official, Tigran Gambaryan, on Thursday, called on the Nigerian authorities to stop prosecuting him and free him from detention. Yuki Gambaryan also restated her earlier call on the United States government to intervene “more forcefully” to pressure the Nigerian government to release him. Mr Gambaryan, held in a court-ordered detention in Abuja, is standing trial on money laundering charges at the Federal High Court in Abuja, the Nigeria’s capital city.
