Ms. Barros previously served as the deputy director of program operations for OHM/Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, according to a March 18 news release from Episcopal Health. She also served as associate executive director of Behavioral Health & Psychiatry at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem in New York City.

An addiction treatment and recovery center has opened in Sullivan, Ind., CBS affiliate WTHI reported March 21. The Freedom Connection Recovery Center will offer recovery coaching and acupuncture services for patients in need of addiction treatment services. Programs will also include life skills classes and sober social events, according to the center's website.

Plano, Texas-based Oceans Healthcare has appointed Michael Jellinek, MD, and Courtney Phillips, PhD, to its board of directors.
Dr. Jellinek is a practicing psychiatrist and professor of psychiatry and of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School in Boston, according to a March 21 news release from Oceans. He previously served as chief of child psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Phillips most recently served as secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health.

The city of Boston is spending $21 million to increase access to mental and behavioral health services and programs throughout the city.
The funding will support the Boston Public Health Commission and Boston Public Schools over five years, according to a March 20 news release. The money comes from federal funding and grants from the American Rescue Plan Act, the Education Department and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

California voters have approved a ballot measure that aims to address the state's homelessness crisis and transform mental healthcare, NPR reported March 21.
Proposition 1 is a combination of two bills that would fund the modernization of California's mental health system, marking the first update to the system in two decades. The final count on the approval comes over two weeks after the California primary on March 5.

The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services has launched a scholarship program to increase the number of behavioral health professionals in the state.
The Tennessee Behavioral Health Pathways Scholarship will offer $15,000 in tuition assistance per academic year for up to two years for students pursuing a master's degree in a variety of fields, such as counseling, psychiatric nursing, social work or psychology, according to a March 20 news release.
