Darjeeling: A tourist from Purva Bardhaman died at a homestay in Sittong on Wednesday. 55-year-old Raj Narayan De, had arrived at the homestay in Sittong in the Kurseong Subdivision along with 7 others on Tuesday. “We had dinner at night together. In the morning when we had gone to wake him up to click photographs of the Kanchenjunga, we found him senseless. We rushed him to the nearest Rambi Block Primary Health Centre where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Darjeeling: The Kalimpong district administration has issued prohibitory orders restricting the halting on the Loop bridge at Bagrakote along the National Highway 717A connecting Bengal with Sikkim. The order also prohibits taking selfies/reels on the under-construction bridge, only allowing vehicles to pass through without stopping. The bridge has been drawing a huge number of visitors making it accident-prone with construction work still on.
