I was a perpetually unhappy 13-year-old. I was losing faith. I had somewhat discovered nihilistic writers, but I also loved Marx. And I romanticized a country that no longer existed. Growing up, we were never formally introduced to music. With the exception of a mini Casio keyboard that my father gifted me when I was quite young, I have no childhood musical memories.
