    With hotly-contested school board elections in April as well as statewide primaries and the general election later this year, we welcome endorsements for political candidates from our readers. It has been longstanding policy at the News-Leader not to run endorsements in the Opinion section on the last Sunday prior to the election. For the April 2 election, that means the final Sunday endorsements can run is March 24, with a submission deadline of Tuesday, March 19.

If there's a more eye-catching headline than "Trader Joe's coming to Springfield," it's got to be "Oops — it's the one in Virginia, not Missouri."On Thursday, we published an online story based on a statement from Trader Joe's corporate public relations manager, who confirmed the company was planning a store in Springfield. A short while later, the same spokeswoman followed up to apologize, telling us she thought we were in Virginia.
