Taniborbactam is a novel bicyclic boronic acid-based, transition state analogue that reversibly and covalently inhibits serine β-lactamases (Ambler class A, C and D β-lactamases), including KPC and OXA-48-like carbapenemases, and that competitively inhibits substrate binding to MBLs (Ambler class B β-lactamases), including NDM, VIM, SPM and GIM, but not IMP.1–4 An investigational combination of cefepime, a fourth-generation cephalosporin and taniborbactam has completed Phase 3 clinical...
