Amid escalating tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad, the Indian military establishment has actively begun large-scale mobilisation of additional forces to the border, including its reserve Territorial Army, to ensure full strength in the event of a contingency. In a notification Friday, the Ministry of Defence announced the activation of 14 of 32 infantry battalions of the Territorial Army (TA) for deployment across the country until February 2028.

India on Thursday said an “Air Defence system at Lahore” is “reliably learnt” to have been “neutralised” after Pakistan “attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India”. “During the Press Briefing on Operation Sindoor on May 7, India had called its response as focused, measured and non-escalatory. It was specifically mentioned that Pakistani military establishments had not been targeted.
