In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Army has entered into a contract with civil aviation service providers to procure helicopter support to meet the logistics needs for its winter cut-off posts along the northern and western borders, defence sources said Monday. The one-year contract will ensure that 16 remote posts in the Jammu region are sustained throughout the year, while 28 posts in Kashmir and Ladakh will benefit from this support for 150 days next year.

The Ministry of Defence is seeking to expand the scope of its flagship Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) scheme and has sought additional funds from the Finance Ministry to keep it going, The Indian Express has learnt. As per senior government officials, the Department of Defence Production (DDP) under the Ministry of Defence has already exhausted around 90% of the total `498.78 crore approved for the scheme for a period of five years—from 2021-22 to 2025-26.
