    On December 3, 2024, the Government of Saskatchewan published its accessibility plan, which provides helpful insights for public employers who are required in implement their own plans in 2025. The Accessibility Saskatchewan Act (the "Act") was passed by the Government of Saskatchewan in 2023 to help make workplaces more accessible for persons with disabilities. Public sector bodies and other prescribed persons are required to share their accessibility plan by December 3, 2025.

    In our previous blog posts here and here, we outlined important deadlines, requests for extensions to such deadlines and new regulations under the federal Pay Equity Act (the "Act"). As of September 3, 2024, most Canadian federally regulated workplaces with 10 or more employees were required to post their pay equity plans, unless an extension was obtained from the Pay Equity Commissioner (the "Commissioner").

    The SCC's decision stems from a grievance made on behalf of two public school teachers (the "Grievors") employed by the York Region District School Board in Ontario.
