The Dubuque City Council on Monday reversed a March zoning decision on a plot of land off Cedar Cross Road after receiving blowback from neighbors worried about apartment buildings rising in their backyard. The council had approved a rezoning request for the two adjacent lots at 405 and 575 Cedar Cross Road by Luke and Julie Merfeld from R-1 single-family lots to R-4 multi-family residential, but the vote was split, 4-3.

Nine local businesses were honored as Best Places to Work on Thursday during a recognition event hosted by TH Media and Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce. More than 150 people attended the awards dinner at Diamond Jo Casino. To ensure accurate, unbiased results, TH Media and the chamber selected Workforce Research Group to be the workplace research partner for the program.

Five former Grand River Medical Group physicians are suing the local health care provider to temporarily halt its sale to UnityPoint Health. Andrew Bland, Ryan Elsey, Krishnarao Gorrepati, Sarah Jacobitz-Kizzier and Michelle Shafer, all shareholders in the company, seek an injunction on the sale until or unless the company respects their buyout rights. All five physicians resigned from employment with Grand River Medical Group within the past 12 months.
