My most worn, most dependable wardrobe items tend to sneak up on me. Their GOAT status develops like a slow burn. And I don’t usually pinpoint these pieces until at least a year or so after owning them, once I realize just how often I’ve reached for them over every season. Jenni Kayne’s Cruise Cocoon Crewneck only recently obtained my GOAT status after owning it for multiple years. Sweaters are some of my most favorite wardrobe pieces in general, but THIS ONE is my top pick of the entire stack.

This post is sponsored by Gap Factory. I joke a lot about how much outfit formulas give me nightmares (it crushes my creativity!!!). But the funny thing is, I mostly buy the same handful of items for my wardrobe. Similar pieces, just in a different font, if you will. Which is kiiiiind of the same concept. For warmer months, there are 3 key items I always make sure I have on hand: good matching sets, oversized button-downs, and easy summer sweaters.

Wearing jeans in late spring and summer can be polarizing—some avoid denim entirely, while others (like me!) embrace it, especially in lighter fabrics and relaxed fits. At 5’10”, I’m always on the hunt for warm-weather denim that’s actually long enough. I am totally into it, depending on the function or if I’m kicking it in AC all day. But my denim preferences switch up as the sun heats up. I like light, looser material. I prefer lighter washes, as well.

My favorite local TikTok meteorologist (yes, I have one of those) quite literally just made a video prepping us for “swamp booty” season (or excuse me, he said “swamp butt” but I simply can’t type that more than once). Apparently, it arrives this coming week. So while I would love to be channeling all sorts of summertime fashioninspo for you right now, there is one thing, and one thing only, I am gearing up to wear on repeat. Casual, comfy, easy, loose athletic shorts.

I’m experiencing my first spring in our new hometown and It. Is. Picturesque. It’s like springtime straight out of a storybook. And it’s the reason I’ve become obsessed with spring fashion. With a good storybook spring comes some glorious rainy days. I’m someone who prefers buying less and getting the most wear out of my pieces, so my rainy day outfit ideas come down to a few key (& simple!) pieces.
