“He has been questioned and the process to arrest him, which involves paperwork, is currently on,” a CBI source confirmed. According to the FIR registered by CBI, seen by ThePrint, a written complaint was received from an Odisha businessman named Ratikanta Sout on 28 May, alleging that officer Chintan Raghuvanshi asked for a bribe to settle the case against him but he does not have the means to pay that amount.

On Wednesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation conducted raids in Noida and Varanasi, arresting six individuals in their 20s. It appears that none have any past criminal record, but their credentials are being verified. “They were duping people in Japan sitting in call centres here in Delhi and UP. We have made the arrests and Japanese authorities have been informed,” a source said.
