The California Rodeo Salinas, one of the top 15 regular season rodeos in the United States, returns July 17–20, 2025, at the Salinas Sports Complex. Known for its thrilling rodeo competitions the event also offers an array of family-friendly activities. Families can kick off the fun early with the Rodeo Carnival, held from July 11 to July 20 at 295 Sun Way in Salinas. The carnival is open daily from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM and features rides, games, and classic fair food.

For our family, there’s no better place to do just that than Shelter Cove—a hidden gem nestled on California’s Lost Coast. It’s not the easiest destination to reach, but trust me, the reward is worth every twist and turn. My adventurous aunt introduced the Cove to us many years ago. If you ask my kids to list their favorite places, it will be at the top of the list, as it holds a special spot in their hearts.
