The University of Rochester‘s Warner School of Education and Human Development has been awarded $275,000 to continue hosting the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers, marking the third consecutive year the Warner School has received funding for the international exchange initiative. UR is one of only two institutions nationwide selected to host the Fulbright program in the upcoming fall semester.

United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes is investing over $1 million into 30 summer programs supporting over 3,800 out-of-school youth in the six-county region. United Way is the second-largest funder for summer programming and is supporting more programs and youth than in 2024. It is one of nine funders contributing to summer programs. For ease of applicants and to enhance funder collaboration, applicants were able to complete a common application with the nine funders.

NBT Bank celebrated the opening of its new office this week at 1075 Ridge Road in Webster. It is the bank’s first branch in the Western New York region. The opening follows the completion of NBT Bancorp’s $236 million merger with Evans Bancorp Inc. on May 2. “It is my great honor and pleasure to be a part of today’s ceremony to celebrate the opening of our newest office in the Western Region,” said Tim Brown, regional president.

James Gould, president and co-founder of Alesco Advisors LLC and a Rochester Institute of Technology alumnus, has been named as the 2025 recipient of the Herbert W. Vanden Brul Entrepreneurial Award, presented by Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology. Gould will be honored at the Vanden Brul Entrepreneurial Award Luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, inside the Susan R. Holliday Center on campus.
