CENTREVILLE — A celebration of freedom, unity and heritage brought the community together June 14 as the Kennard African American Cultural Heritage Center hosted its seventh annual Juneteenth festivities. The all-day event featured an expanded parade, live music, dancing, readings by prominent Black authors, a visit from the Mobile Library, a breakfast buffet, free haircuts, basketball clinics, vendors, food trucks and exhibits inviting the public to explore Kennard’s museum and resource library.

CENTREVILLE — Amid nationwide protests the No Kings Day rally in Centreville was reminiscent more of a small town picnic. And while participants might pull up a lawn chair on the courthouse square, their message was they will not sit idly by to threats against democracy. Celebrating democracy as well as Flag Day and the 250th birthday of the U.S Army, grassroots initiative Eastern Shore Indivisible led a No Kings Day picnic and rally, June 14.
