It's been a little while since we've talked beauty, so this week, I'm rounding up my current make-up and skincare essentials. As someone with slightly dry, sensitive skin, I'm selective about what I put on my face and body and try to avoid wearing makeup every day. But over the years as a magazine editor, I've been fortunate enough to have tried and tested a lot of products. So, I do have a handful of favourites I rely on to help me feel my best, day in and day out, whatever the season.

Maybe I'm being over-optimistic, but we've had so many warm sunny days over the past few weeks that I've finally started packing away my boots and heavy shoes and getting my warm-weather footwear out for summer. This week the invites are starting to trickle in for summer events, I've had a pedicure and I'm planning my summer work outfits around chic multipurpose shoes I can wear all day and in to the evening - and at weekends and holidays too.

How’s the recent heatwave been for you? While I’ve embraced some proper sun, dressing for the commute and office in this heat has been a challenge. This week has been a busy one with a series of pre and post work events and dashes across town to external meetings in the sweltering heat.

We spend a lot of time over at Marie Claire talking about the key capsule items we love that are the building blocks of a good wardrobe. Of course, a great dress, trench or classic white shirt are vital, but don't underestimate the power of the smaller items that really make an outfit pop. I'm a huge fan of bold, stand-out accessories that have the power to take a simple black dress or jeans, shirt and blazer combo to the next level.

It's around this time of year that my mind starts turning to dresses. I've spent the winter months in separates, and I'm ready for some quick, easy ‘one and done’ outfits I can invest in now and wear on repeat till September. When it comes to summer dresses, my favourite buys are the hard-working multi-tasking pieces that are just demure enough for the office with a blazer but also work alone with heels for a range of summer events I'll inevitably be attending straight from work.
