Introduction In selected fetal hearts with critical aortic stenosis (CAS), natural history studies have shown there to be a 73% likelihood of progression to hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) by the time of birth, and for this reason, was named CAS with evolving HLHS (CAS-eHLHS) (Gardiner et al., 2016; Mäkikallio et al., 2006).
