This past weekend at the Woodland Resort, American Heroes Outdoors Television held its annual Patriot Fish Fest. Patriot Fish Fest at Woodland Resort is a fishing tournament open to all.

    It might seem crazy to the average person, but some people love to fight. James Thompson III, aka “The Spirit Lake Zombie” loves to throw down on the street and in the cage. Thompson, 34, who is from Fort Totten, and an enrolled member of the Spirit Lake Tribe is set to face off against Newar Brifki on Jan. 18 at the Spirit Lake Casino for Throne MMA. Thompson said he started fighting at the age of 14 getting into street and jail fights. “I was doing pretty good off the street.

    Chronic absenteeism causes a huge burden on schools, teachers, and the absent students. One group is seeing a higher than average chronic absenteeism rate according to data compiled by the Associated Press and non-profit media Indian County Today. Data was compiled from 2018-2023 looking at 34 states and the District of Columbia. In North Dakota, the chronic absenteeism rate of students from 2018 to 2023 went from 12% to 22% to 20%. Native American students went from 30% to 44% to 39%.

    The 2024 season is over. The season premiere of 2025 just started and it was welcomed by the annual “Get Well Party” at the Elks Lodge. Some came for the music (played and sung wonderfully by Mike Morse), some came to get their first dance of the year, and some came for the big-money raffles. The raffles give away cash prizes in the three and four-digit range. Many come for the delicious Bloody Mary’s that are on the house. You can’t forget the free-will food that the Elks Lodge offers.

    Fashion can be many things. It can be unique, trendy, or just something that makes you happy. Maddock’s Jillian Conradie, of the newly opened women’s clothing store Camora said she loves to make “other women feel beautiful.”The store had its grand opening on Nov. 2. The store name Camora has its own unique backstory. Conradie said she wanted a name that sounded nice, pretty, and easy to pronounce. The “C” comes from her nephews Cooper and Cash. The “Am” comes from her niece Amelia.
