Reefer Madness is a “cautionary tale,” where Jimmy Harper falls in with a bad crowd and the devil’s lettuce turns its smokers into sex-crazed, murderous fiends after just one puff. Mainly, this was done to help protect the financial gains of a few powerful billionaires—including William Randolph Hearst, whose business was being threatened by the use of hemp paper.
