Virginia Republicans on Saturday chose state Sen. Mark Peake, R-Lynchburg, to succeed Rich Anderson as chairman of the state GOP. Peake topped Scott Pio, chairman of the Loudoun County Republican Committee, in balloting by the party’s State Central Committee. At Forest Hill Presbyterian Church in South Richmond the two legislative candidates on the ballot are unopposed, but opposition to a proposed Richmond casino appears to be driving turnout. City registrar is sending 300 more ballots to the precinct, upping its allotment to 1,650.
