AHTAHKAKOOP – RCMP are busy responding to reports of a shooting on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation. On April 12 at approximately 8:50 p.m., Ahtahkakoop RCMP responded to a call involving a firearm discharge on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation. Officers responded immediately along with local EMS. The investigation determined a group of individuals were outside a residence on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation when they were approached by four males. One of the males had a firearm.

The Liberal and NDP leaders will take their campaigns to Saskatchewan today as the federal election race nears the halfway mark. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is set to make an announcement and speak at the First Nations Summit in Vancouver, before making his way to Saskatoon for a campaign event. There are 14 federal ridings in Saskatchewan, which has been a sea of blue in recent federal elections.

REGINA – Post-secondary students could soon save on Regina transit. A motion to approve a new four-month post-secondary transit pass for students will be considered at Wednesday’s city council meeting. The pass will be priced at $260, which would save post-secondary students around $50 in that span. To obtain the pass, a student must attend a post-secondary institution located in the city for a minimum of three consecutive months.

SWIFT CURRENT AREA – RCMP are investigating a fatal rollover in the Swift Current area. On April 4 at approximately 5:35 p.m., Swift Current Rural RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 1, west of Swift Current. Officers responded along with local fire and EMS. An adult female passenger of the vehicle was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. She has been identified as a 61-year-old female from Redcliff, Alta. Her family has been notified.

SASKATCHEWAN – The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has made an arrest following Operation Stream; a global Europol-supported operation that resulted in the shut down of Kidflix, one of the largest child sexual exploitation platforms in the world. The investigation was supported by Europol and led by the State Criminal Police of Bavaria (Bayerisches Landeskriminalamt) and the Bavarian Central Office for the Prosecution of Cybercrime (ZCB).
