4 1/1 A family centre in Abingdon is going to expand after a deal was struck to occupy additional space. South Abingdon Children's Centre was forced to shut its doors in 2017 due to funding cuts. The following year, Abingdon Carousel charity stepped in, with Oxfordshire County Council and Abingdon Town Council both provided funding to enable it to relaunch in 2018.

The official twinning connection will be launched on Saturday, October 11, when signs will go up in Kennington, near Oxford, and in Musanda in west Kenya. There will be tree planting ceremonies and a Zoom connection. Two young people from Musanda will share their stories.

5 1/1 It is 10 years since Osney Lock Hydro - the first community-owned hydro to be built on the Thames – started generating electricity. The hydro in West Oxford generates an average of 165MWh (megawatt-hour) of electricity each year, enough to power 60 homes. Solar panels on the roof contribute another 8MWh. The facility is managed by volunteers with a contractor providing technical support.
