    From Nov. 28-30, the Kent State men’s basketball team participated in Western Slam, an in-season basketball tournament hosted by the city of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada. Joining the Flashes in the tournament were the Towson University Tigers, Kennesaw State University Owls, and the University of California, Irvine Anteaters. The tournament is special for the Western Canadian region, as it is the only NCAA Division-I event of its kind being held there.

    The Kent State men’s basketball team had an impressive 33 points off its bench Saturday and never trailed in its 68-52 road win over the Cleveland State Vikings. In its previous win against Niagara, KSU saw a 19-point first-half lead slip down to one late in the game. In this one, the Flashes left no doubt, winning handily after being up 15 in the first half. “Our defense was outstanding, especially in the second half, and our rebounding was really strong,” coach Rob Senderoff said.

    The Kent State men’s basketball team shot an impressive 19-22 (86%) from the free throw line, helping it withstand a furious run from the Niagara Purple Eagles, winning 76-73 Thursday at the M.A.C. Center. In the final minute and a half, Niagara knocked in a three pointer on three straight possessions, but clutch free throws from graduate student guard Morgan Safford (8-10 on free throws) and senior guard VonCameron Davis (4-4 on free throws) helped the Flashes secure the three-point victory.
