Macomb Dakota has had no shortage of top-notch wrestlers under head coach Ed Skowneski, including a number of individual champions. So it was a bit of a departure in the 2024 state tournament when Dakota didn’t have any wrestlers making it to the state championship match. It was the first time since 2013 that a Dakota wrestler didn’t at least finish as a state runner-up in their individual weight class. The Yzerplan has actually been successful insofar as taking the Red Wings from a cap and talent hell the likes of which is rarely seen to “acceptable professional hockey team” but it has been a bit lackluster and it’s only getting harder going forward.

Plenty of reason for Wings fans to be frustrated by the pace of the rebuild during Yzerman’s tenure (and some of the FA signings, Walman fiasco, etc) but worth remembering what he inherited: A terrible cap sheet, a last-place roster and these last four drafts from his predecessor https://t.co/YOEPAtcwGk
