    V8 Supercars champion turned developer Rick Kelly hopes his luxury resort in Trentham Cliffs will be open by the end of this year. The Trentham Waters Resort was previously scheduled to open by the end of 2024, but that has been pushed back. The concept has been in development since the Kelly Group purchased the land about eight years ago, but major constructions works have taken place in the last two years.

    Mildura's South West Cricket Club is fundraising for the family of one of their players who drowned in the Murray River last week. Harry Chatha, 54, went missing last Tuesday while cooling off in the water at Apex Park River Beach. His body was recovered by authorities after a two day search. Mr Chatha had been living and working in Sunraysia since 2018, supporting his wife and children back home in India. Vic Gupta, a cricket teammate and friend, said Mr Chatha was a great presence around the club.

    A bold plan to develop an $89 million sporting complex in Gol Gol is being considered by the Wentworth Shire Council. Unveiled on New Year's Day as part of the Buronga Gol Gol Sporting Masterplan, the project would see major expansion to the facilities at the Carramar Drive Sporting Complex. Wentworth shire mayor Daniel Linklater said the plan was "aspirational" but recognised a growing demand for sporting facilities in the region.

    Echuca shipwright Adam Auditori purchased the PS Melbourne in 2024, leaving many residents concerned the iconic paddlesteamer would leave the Mildura region. Mr Auditori decided to give the boat a chance to stay local, taking passengers out onto the water three times a day to test the viability of local operations. However, despite marketing efforts, only a few hundred people have boarded the vessel since January 1.

The light-hearted quip would become one of the last things he would relay to his family. Ball also wrote about a new-found passion for photography, trips to the theatre and an odd skin rash he'd developed. All typical concerns for a 21-year-old. But there was nothing typical about Harold's situation.
