Anwar Ibrahim had long campaigned for change prior to becoming the prime minister, but there was one area he wasn't prepared to change too much - political appointments to GLCs and government agencies. This was despite Pledge 22 of Pakatan Harapan’s Buku Harapan stating that the coalition will “ensure the appointment of state and national GLC board members will be made based on merit and professionalism, not based on politics”.
